Public Transport and Climate Change

NOVEMBER 2009: This paper discusses the implications of climate change for public transport and makes policy recomendations accordingly.  Public transport has a vital role to play in reducing Australia's greenhouse gas emissions.  Investment in public transport infrastructure, and the equitable treatment of public transport within the tax system and Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme, will be vital in maximising this role.
