Historic win for NSW commuters

The Tourism & Transport Forum welcomes the announcement of a once in a generation sale that secures the delivery of WestConnex and the future of transport infrastructure in New South Wales.

“NSW’s solid fiscal position has allowed the Government to continue digging, drilling and tunnelling to build a world-class public transport system that improves transport connectivity, accessibility and a reduction in congestion, TTF Chief Executive Margy Osmond said.

“The injection of $9.3 billion into the NSW Government coffers means that WestConnex can be fully delivered and more infrastructure projects can get under way.

“Today’s announcement is a win for all commuters in NSW. WestConnex manages the growth of Sydney’s international gateways – Port Botany and Sydney Airport – and completion of the project will provide better access to the city for Western Sydney residents and businesses.

“Infrastructure is a vital economic enabler, creating jobs, getting people moving and helping make Sydney and NSW not only a better place to live, but also to visit.

“Sydney is a global city, but we also want to see the west rise as a destination its own right and have more of the visitor economy exploring what is on offer, and key transport infrastructure makes that possibility a reality,” said Margy Osmond.
