NSW VOUCHERS AND FEDERAL ARTS FUNDING TWO BIG TICKS FOR VISITOR ECONOMY

Tourism & Transport Forum (TTF) Australia has given two big ticks to a new $75.4 million NSW Government package to provide 200,000 accommodation vouchers and support for live music across NSW and $135 million in additional federal funding to put on festivals, concerts, tours, productions and events.

TTF CEO Margy Osmond strongly backed the two separate support measures announced today by the NSW Government and Federal Government respectively, which collectively will stimulate visitor spending in NSW and help to reboot the national arts and entertainment industries.

“Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Treasurer Dominic Perrottet and Tourism Minister Stuart Ayres have put together a targeted new package to help plug the gaps to get people spending again,” Margy Osmond said.

“It will go a long way to support our accommodation, live entertainment and tourism industries which are beginning to recover after having been decimated by COVID, particularly within our Sydney CBD.

“It compliments other stimulus measures like the NSW Dine & Discover scheme and will help to go some way to restoring occupancy rates across the market.

“Likewise, the additional $135 million announced by Federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg and Federal Arts Minister Paul Fletcher to support thousands of jobs in arts and entertainment will breathe new life into these important visitor economy sectors once more.

“There is more work to be done to support the tourism, transport and aviation sectors, but these additional stimulus measures are just what our industry needs at this critical juncture for the economy.”
