ROADMAP TO RECOVERY WELCOMED BY TOURISM INDUSTRY

The Federal Government’s roadmap to economic recovery released today by the Prime Minister would provide the tourism industry with much needed confidence that the nation is firmly focused on the road to recovery the Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) said.

TTF CEO Margy Osmond said the three stage roadmap to recovery is a clear signal that we have turned the corner in our battle to stop the spread of the coronavirus and a welcome development for an industry brought to a standstill by the double whammy of the bushfires and the COVID 19 virus.

“While it doesn’t include dates, and we look forward to further detail on expected timelines being confirmed by State premiers in the coming days, the plan to fully reopen the Australian economy by July is a truly positive step for businesses focused on what recovery might look like and when will it happen.

“TTF has been working with its members for several weeks on recovery plans for the tourism industry and standards that address health and hygiene practices for the various different types of businesses that make up our sector.

“We look forward to working with Federal and State Governments in the weeks ahead as we navigate our way through the three different stages and kickstart the economy.”
