It has been the worst year in living memory for the tourism industry. We’ve lost over 500,000 full-time jobs and if there is no additional Government support beyond March when the Jobkeeper Wage Subsidy ends, another 300,000 will be gone by September.
TTF has launched a campaign speaking to a group of CEOs at the coal face to find out why the government must SAVE TOURISM to SAVE JOBS in support of our proposal for a targeted industry support package through to the end of 2021.
The core of the proposal is the Tourism Employee and Asset Maintenance (TEAM) program, for targeted assistance of between $1,000 to $1500 per fortnight for each employee of eligible businesses with a 30 per cent to 50 per cent or more downturn in their 2019 turnover. TTF has proposed the TEAM package would be complemented by specific sub-sector support across a range of areas.
