CEO of the Tourism & Transport Forum Australia (TTF), Margy Osmond, today welcomed the appointment of Bob East as the Chair of Tourism and Events Queensland.

“Bob East is an accomplished business leader with a wealth of experience in the tourism and accommodation industries,” Ms Osmond said.

“He is also a highly-valued member of the TTF national advisory board and Chair of our Accommodation Policy Panel, and has played an instrumental role in championing the needs of the tourism sector.

“As CEO of the Mantra Group since 2007, Bob East is responsible for one of the biggest hotel and resort operators in Australia, with more than 120 properties, 16,000 rooms under management and 5,000 employees.

“Given Bob East’s extensive background, he is in a strong position to provide deep insights into the tourism industry, particularly on the Gold Coast.

“Tourism and Events Queensland plays a vital role in fostering the State’s visitor economy, and Bob East’s experience and understanding of the tourism industry make him a great asset in this new role,” she said.
