DAN TEHAN A STRONG CHOICE AS NEW FEDERAL TOURISM MINISTER

TTF Australia CEO Margy Osmond has congratulated incoming Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment the Hon. Dan Tehan MP on his new role, as Prime Minister Scott Morrison today announced his refreshed ministerial leadership team.

“TTF has a good relationship with new Tourism Minister Tehan who will bring a strong regional Victorian perspective and fresh set of eyes to the ongoing challenges facing the tourism sector,” Margy Osmond said today.

“TTF on behalf of Australia’s tourism, transport, aviation and accommodation industry looks forward to working closely with Minister Tehan and his team as the domestic tourism sector continues to lose $3.6 billion a month as COVID-19 hotspots like that in Sydney’s Northern Beaches continue to emerge and travel remains subdued.

“Our industry both nationally and in the Minister’s home state of Victoria has been hit for six and is clearly still in survival mode. We will relay our concerns and challenges but also importantly specific opportunities to Minister Tehan in the new year, as a matter of priority.”

Other important new appointments include the Hon. Alex Hawke MP who takes up the role of Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs and the Hon. Paul Fletcher MP who takes up the additional role of Minister for Urban Infrastructure and Cities along with his existing ministerial responsibilities.

“TTF will continue to work closely with Treasurer the Hon. Josh Frydenberg MP, Skills Minister Senator the Hon. Michaelia Cash, Environment Minister the Hon. Sussan Ley MP and Deputy Prime Minister the Hon. Michael McCormack MP in his ongoing role as Minister for Infrastructure and Transport as transport and aviation aims to recover,” Margy Osmond continued.

“TTF would importantly also like to formally thank outgoing Tourism Minister Senator the Hon. Simon Birmingham for his focused and laser-like stewardship of the sector through our toughest year on record and will remain engaged with him in his new and critical role of Commonwealth Minister for Finance.”

Ends.
