Tourism & Transport Forum Media Release – Australian Transport Summit 2017: Building cities that work

The importance of public transport to the future of Australian cities will be among the hot topics discussed when some of the biggest names in the transport sector meet at Australia’s premier transport summit on Friday 18 August.

The Tourism & Transport Forum’s 2017 Australian Transport Summit, themed ‘Are we ready? The future of mobility in Australia’, will focus on current and emerging issues facing the Australian transport sector and hear from leading Australian and international experts and decision makers.

Discussing the role public transport will play in the cities of the future will be leaders of Australia’s biggest government transport bodies, including Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads Director General, Neil Scales OBE, Public Transport Victoria Chief Executive Officer, Jeroen Weimar, Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development Deputy Secretary, Judi Zielke and Transport Canberra Director General, Emma Thomas.

Transport for NSW Secretary, Tim Reardon, will also deliver a keynote address on how Australia’s largest transport department is transforming the NSW transport network to meet the mobility challenges of the future.

“The 2017 Australian Transport Summit is shaping up to be the biggest and best in the events six year history,” TTF Chief Executive Margy Osmond said.

“This year we are very proud to showcase leaders from national transport bodies, who will provide an incredible insight into how governments across Australia are positioning public transport in their plans to build the cities of the future.”
