NEW NATIONAL PARKS CAMPAIGN A BOOST FOR NSW TOURISM

More visitors will flock to national parks in coming months thanks to the NSW Government’s spectacular new tourism campaign in a welcome boost for the state’s tourism sector, according to the nation’s peak tourism body, Tourism and Transport Forum (TTF) Australia.

TTF CEO Margy Osmond congratulated NSW Environment Minister James Griffin and Tourism Minister Ben Franklin on the joint campaign launching today between the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) and Destination NSW, showcasing the state’s awe-inspiring natural landscapes to Australia and the world.

“This campaign being rolled out on television, billboards and online will be seen by millions of people and help attract more visitors to New South Wales to enjoy the magnificent natural beauty the state’s national parks and reserves have to offer,” Ms Osmond said.

“It’s perfectly timed to entice tourists over the peak summer period starting next month and will help benefit local tourism and accommodation operators who are still getting back on their feet since the pandemic.”

“By encouraging more people to visit national parks, the State Government is also helping support tens of thousands of jobs, particularly in regional Australia, contributing to the state’s economy.”

“I’m thrilled this campaign encourages the conservation of our natural landscapes and greater engagement with First Nations, whilst offering tourists an experience they’ll never forget. Our research shows more people are keen to enjoy nature-based experiences since Covid and increasingly want to ensure their holiday contributes to sustainability by respecting local environments and cultures.”

“I’m also pleased the State Government is supporting this campaign with a $450 million investment in more than 200 visitor infrastructure projects by 2024. This infrastructure investment is crucial to ensuring travellers have the best experience possible, whilst prioritising Indigenous knowledge and culture and helping conserve the natural environment.”

“This is a great opportunity to encourage other states and territories to follow New South Wales’ lead and continue to promote their own national parks tourism, to raise awareness of the incredible nature-based experiences waiting to be enjoyed around the country.”
