SYDNEY’S EXCITING SUMMER OF EVENTS GREAT NEWS FOR TOURISM SECTOR

The Tourism and Transport Forum Australia (TTF) has congratulated the New South Wales Government for its Summer in Sydney event series, confident it will help drive visitors to Sydney’s CBD and Western Sydney in coming months.

TTF CEO Margy Osmond welcomed today’s announcement by New South Wales Tourism and Arts Minister Ben Franklin of an incredible major events line-up, including arts and cultural events, concerts, food experiences, Christmas markets, international sporting events and more, to help drive the sectors’ recovery.

“Sydney is coming back to life! The thriving, event-packed city Sydney was known for around the world before the pandemic is being revived. This summer is an exciting time to explore all the delights Sydney has to offer again without the restrictions of recent years,” Ms Osmond said.

“These events will help encourage visitors to come and enjoy Sydney’s CBD and Western Sydney, bringing in much-needed revenue into our arts and cultural sectors and also benefiting our local tourism operators, hotels and the transport and aviation industries.”

“Our research shows arts and cultural events are the key drivers encouraging people back into our CBDs across the country, especially afterhours and on weekends. It’s encouraging to see the New South Wales government understands how critical our arts, events and cultural sectors have been and will continue to be in coming months to help Sydney’s economy rebuild.”

“An impressive events line-up like this will not only encourage Sydneysiders to explore their own city, but also entice visitors from greater New South Wales and interstate. Potential international visitors can be certain that Sydney is open and ready to warmly welcome guests once more.”
